UNILIA athletes who participated in male football and netball at the 2026 CUCSA games in Gaborone, Botswana have made history by being part of the first Malawian teams to win medals at CUCSA games. The goalkeeper, Isaac Sukwala, helped Malawi's male football team to scoop third place and win bronze medals after saving a penalty and inspiring Malawi to a 4-3 penalty shootout win against Lesotho. Themba Nhlane is another UNILIA footballer who was part of Malawi's male football team. Catherine Munthali, the only UNILIA netballer in the Malawi team, is also coming home with a gold medal as the Malawi netball team has emerged champions. Congratulations Isaac, Themba and Catherine!
